Saint Paul, Minn. – November 10, 2011 – Women Winning – whose mission is to encourage, promote and support pro-choice women’s leadership in all political parties and levels of public office – proudly announces its endorsement of Kari Dziedzic for Minnesota Senate District 59 in Northeast Minneapolis following the appointment of Larry Pogemiller by Governor Dayton to direct the Office of Higher Education.

Kari is running for Senate to represent the community she has worked, volunteered and grown up in making her the perfect candidate for this district and a much-needed thoughtful, experienced, and vibrant voice at the State Capitol.  Kari carries on her family’s strong tradition of public service as a member of the Catholic Eldercare Board of Directors, Friends of the Northeast Library, and as the former Chair of the Minneapolis Charter Commission.  She has an extensive record of working for progressive candidates including US Senator Paul Wellstone, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, and Senator Roger Moe.  Kari currently works as a policy aide to Hennepin County Commissioner Mark Stenglein.

“Women Winning is pleased to endorse Kari Dziedzic and is excited at the prospect of electing such a vibrant and accomplished woman to serve in the Minnesota Senate,” said Sarah Taylor-Nanista, Executive Director of Women Winning.  “Kari has been serving her community for years through her work in Hennepin County on infrastructure projects like the Lowry Bridge, education initiatives like A-GRAD which pushes students to attend and graduate from high school, and the revitalization of Minneapolis neighborhoods through her work on NRP (Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization Project).”
